About the school

Winchester School of English was founded in 1989 by three teachers who were determined to provide a friendly, relaxed environment for their students. Since then our reputation has grown and our students continue to flourish in small classes with a high degree of personal attention. Our students experience authentic British life and culture, which they encounter in the classroom and through our extensive social programme.

An ideal way to experience the British way of life is living with a host family and we believe that a happy homestay is an important part of a successful language course. Our accommodations officer is dedicated to finding the most welcoming families who will look after our students and make them feel at home.

Choosing a small school has many benefits. Our students and teachers know each other well. Our students form lasting friendships with classmates from around the world and they appreciate the cosy, family atmosphere that the school provides. Our teachers have the freedom to focus on the needs of individual students and as a team we do everything we can to make sure that each student gains as much as possible from their stay with us. These are privileges not always available in larger schools.

The school’s future was secured when ATC Language Schools acquired Winchester School of English in 2013. Their investment has allowed the school’s ethos to continue, and we can continue to welcome the world.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school so you too can experience the unique character of Winchester School of English.
